Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 2 years of high-risk OB experience and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced EFM certification.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit located on the 2nd floor of a hospital in Austin, TX
- Unit includes 12 LDR beds, 5 Antepartum beds, 4 OB Emergency Department (OBED) beds, and 3 OR rooms
- High-risk OB patient population including obstetrical patients with Level I and II injuries
- Patient ratio is 1:2, adjusting to 1:1 based on acuity and transition needs
- Procedures performed include C-sections, SVD, D&C, D&E, twin deliveries (both C-section and SVD), scheduled and emergent C-hysterectomies, and massive transfusions
- Equipment used includes Alaris pumps and CADD epidural pumps
- EMR systems used: CPN and Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
- 4 weekend shifts required per scheduling period
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Advanced 9th Edition, American Academy of Pediatrics card), AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced EFM (or NCCEFM), and CPI
- Minimum 2 years of recent high-risk OB experience required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Facility holds a Maternal Designation Level III and Neonatal Level II, with both advancing to higher designation levels
- Joint Commission accredited in Women's Services
- Experience with massive transfusion protocols and placenta accreta spectrum disorders (PASD) is preferred
- Self-scheduling model in which team members collaborate on the schedule
- Highly engaged staff with a strong team-oriented culture and a mix of tenured and newer nurses on both day and night shifts
- Management team is actively engaged and regularly rounds on nights and weekends
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible; a minimum of 2 years of high-risk OB experience is required
