Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in an acute care setting, requiring at least 2 years of experience and procedural sedation skills.
Details
- Acute care hospital endoscopy/GI lab setting, recognized as the second busiest Endo department within CommonSpirit Health California
- Unit operates across 2 campuses located approximately 7 minutes apart
- Common procedures include EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, bronchoscopies, EUS, and PEG placements
- RNs cover all 3 phases of care; all intubated patients are transferred to PACU
- MAC sedation cases have the RN circulating; procedural sedation cases include both a circulator and a sedator
- Bedside procedures are performed in the ER and ICU as needed
- Unit runs 5–25 procedures per day across 2 suites
- Charge nurse on duty every shift Monday through Friday
- Techs assist with all procedures except bronchoscopies, which are handled by Respiratory Therapy
- Charting is done in Cerner
- 12-hour day shifts with varied start times; no block scheduling
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Weekend call is typically 1 day from 7a to 7a the following morning, shared in rotation with staff
- Holiday call is in rotation; travelers are expected to cover 1 major and 1 minor holiday
- Call response time is 30 minutes
- First to float; floating is limited within the Endoscopy/GI lab — no floating to other units
- OR scrubs are provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (must be active — pending licenses not accepted)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (pending certifications not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of GI/Endoscopy RN experience required
- Experience with procedural sedation required
- Call experience required
- A driver's license copy is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Orientation length is typically 2–3 days, depending on experience and comfort level
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
