Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Interventional Radiology/Cath Lab position in a hospital-based Advanced Vascular unit, requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and active NJ licensure.
Details
- Hospital-based Advanced Vascular/Interventional Radiology unit
- Two role focuses available: cardiac CT angiography (CCTA) nursing and outpatient radiology/IR imaging nursing
- Patient population spans a range of cardiac and vascular imaging procedures including CT, MRI, IR, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy
- Procedures involve contrast administration via power injectors and access of implanted chest ports
- Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm AM shift; 8-hour days, 37.5 hours per week
- No on-call required
- Floating to a nearby sister hospital may be required as needed
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active NJ RN license (or compact license with NJ as primary state) currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
- 3–5 years of cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or cardiac imaging experience required for the CCTA-focused role
- 3–5 years of outpatient radiology or interventional radiology imaging experience required for the IR-focused role
- Strong IV insertion skills and ability to access implanted chest ports
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Performs comprehensive pre-procedural assessments including medical history review, medication reconciliation, lab review (e.g., renal function), and screening for contraindications
- Administers and titrates medications (e.g., beta-blockers, nitroglycerin, contrast agents, anxiolytics) per protocol and monitors for adverse reactions
- Provides continuous patient monitoring before, during, and after procedures with prompt recognition and response to clinical changes
- Responds to emergencies including contrast reactions and acute clinical events following established ACLS protocols
- Delivers patient-centered education on procedure expectations, preparation, risks, and post-procedure care
- Collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality imaging
- Documents medications, patient responses, and procedural details accurately in Epic
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and maintains competency in cardiac imaging and contrast safety practices
- Two references are required for consideration
- Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are not eligible for this position
