Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with cardiac and teaching hospital experience for a night shift travel contract at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated tertiary care hospital.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 456-bed tertiary care hospital that is a 5-time Magnet Award winner and Level 1 Trauma center
- Cardiac patient population including post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, and renal failure cases
- Patient ratio is 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
- Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- Charting system: Epic
- No on-call requirements
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active RN license in both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas required — both must be in hand prior to consideration, as floating between facilities may be required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/cardiac specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, rapid response teams, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and cardiac/vasoactive drip management (non-titrating)
- Experience with IV therapy including central lines, PICC lines, port access, peripheral line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory support including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with wound care/wound vac, feeding tube management, and isolation precautions
- Sheath removal and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips are preferred skills
- 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN required for consideration

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
- Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage may be required as needed
- Online orientation modules are required to be completed prior to the start date
- No pending licenses accepted — all required licenses must be in hand at time of consideration
