Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Rochester, NY, requiring at least 1 year of experience, phlebotomy and IV placement competency, and a valid NY RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Day/evening patient ratios are 5:1 (with potential stretch to 6–7); night ratios are 6–7:1 (with potential stretch to 8–10)
• PCTs are available on all units and assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating within scope to like units required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
• Epic EMR used; experience preferred
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement competency required
• Experience with telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
• Proficiency with the following skills required: IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, blood product administration, PCA management, feeding tube care and management, peripheral line care/management, cardiac drip management (no titration), chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management, and wound care/wound vac
• Orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Common patient diagnoses include osteoarthritis and fractures
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
• RTO is limited to no more than 1 week per contract; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application
• Up to 3 call-off shifts per 13-week assignment are permitted
