Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Telemetry unit in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience and an active NV RN license prior to start.
Details
- Medical and Telemetry unit in a fast-paced hospital environment serving a wide regional area
- Patient population includes CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID, and post-procedure patients (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab, and OHS patients downgraded from ICU)
- Medications include non-titratable cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro
- 3x12-hour day shifts per week
- Floating may be required to ICUs (for telemetry/medically appropriate assignments), med-surg units, and a sister facility
- No on-call requirements
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
- EMR: Epic — training provided during orientation, or candidates may test out
Requirements
- Active NV RN license required prior to start; RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may be considered and must apply immediately upon offer
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required
- Candidates must pass a telemetry competency exam, including identification and measurement of rhythm strips — failure results in contract termination

- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary, patient-centered care environment with a focus on clinical excellence
- The facility is a nationally recognized, high-volume hospital — the pace and acuity are comparable to a Level I Trauma Center
- Minimum of 2 major holidays required during the assignment
- Blocked scheduling is not permitted
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration — the facility does not extend contracts to compensate for RTO
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Travelers who have previously worked at this health system must take a 13-week break after their contract ends before returning, regardless of the number of prior extensions
