Description

American Traveler is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine with a minimum of 2 years of experience and ARDMS OB/GYN certification for a clinic-based travel assignment.

Details

  • Outpatient Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic setting specializing in high-risk pregnancy ultrasound
  • Patient population includes adolescents and adults with a variety of high-risk pregnancy diagnoses
  • Sonographers scan an average of 10–12 patients per day across 6 ultrasound rooms and 2 NST rooms
  • Scan types include full anatomy surveys, follow-up scans, growth scans, and dopplers
  • Special procedures include amniocentesis
  • Equipment includes Samsung HR ultrasound machines (9 total) and Trophon system for vaginal probe cleaning
  • Documentation completed in Epic and ASOB
  • Schedule is Mon–Thu 7:45 AM–5:00 PM (4x8) and Fri 7:45 AM–1:00 PM (1x5)
  • No call, float, or weekend requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Maternal Fetal Medicine ultrasound experience required
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certification and BLS required; license required if applicable
  • Required fetal scanning skills: abdomen, abdominal circumference, bone lengths, cerebellum, ventricles, diaphragm, duodenal atresia/intussusception, fingers/toes, gender, head, and heart
  • Required OB/GYN skills: 1st–3rd trimester scanning, amniotic fluid index, fetal anatomical survey, inter/intra-orbital measurements, multiple pregnancy, placenta previa, and umbilical cord doppler
  • Required procedure experience: amniocentesis
  • Required additional skills: cervical length measurements and transvaginal scanning
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

  • Sonographers rotate through rooms and share a central workspace for patient workups and report completion
  • Team includes 2 MDs, 3 sonographers, 2 CMAs, and 2 clerical staff
  • Orientation is approximately 40 hours with support from full-time sonographers; weekly orientation classes are held
  • Pre-start modules (approximately 4–5 hours for non-acute roles) must be completed before the start date and annually thereafter
  • Travelers must be fully available during the first week with no other commitments, as the start day may fall on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday depending on orientation class availability
  • No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved thereafter as long as it does not fall on a holiday
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Any previous permanent, PRN, or employee pool staff of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months are highly preferred; references pending at submission are acceptable but required prior to start
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be considered as local travelers
  • Royal blue scrubs required; scrubs are not provided
  • Travel pairs are permitted provided each candidate has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
  • Preferred experience includes high-risk OB, obstetrics, and knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE
