Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring 5 years of experience and Level I Trauma background with night shift availability.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Med/Surg unit serving a complex trauma and acute care surgical population, including patients from the ED, OR, and ICU
- Patient population includes geriatric trauma (55+), MVA/MVC, falls, abuse/violence victims, TBI, ortho trauma, appendicitis, gallbladder, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, and burns
- Patient ratios of 1:4–6
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Specialized skills required: blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, IV starts, insulin administration, PCA, spinal cord injuries, TBI, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oral suctioning, oxygen therapy, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Special equipment in use includes lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- Located within a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds
Requirements
- Active MO RN license required at time of consideration; compact license accepted if MO is the primary state
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- Level I Trauma experience required
- EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management required; must pass a Relias EKG exam
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Parking passes are available for purchase at various lots and garages on a monthly basis; costs and availability may vary by location
- No RTO during the first week of orientation; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
- Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
