Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step-Down/PCU position at a large academic Level I Trauma Center, requiring telemetry, ventilator, and dysrhythmia management experience.
Details
- Step-Down/PCU unit within a large short-term acute care teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 staffed beds
- Patient ratios of 1:2–3 on all shifts
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within service line, including to med/surg units
- Specialized procedures include vent management alongside respiratory therapy, trach management, port access, central line care, phlebotomy, and ABG draws (preferred)
- Telemetry monitoring experience required
- Charting via Epic
- No on-call required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be accepted with notation
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of PCU/Step-Down experience required
- Telemetry, IV insertion, and ventilator experience required
- Long-term vent, weaning, pulmonary rehab, and trach experience required
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to or during onboarding
- Navy scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travel RNs may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months before a mandatory 3-month break is required
- Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
