Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced oncology RN for a 17-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience and at least one prior travel assignment.
Details
- Acute care oncology unit (7th floor) in a hospital setting, with 29 beds
- Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care
- Occasionally, outpatient area patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment if the outpatient area closes
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- Nurse aides available, generally 3 per day
- Charge nurse is staffed outside of the grid under normal circumstances
- Telemetry is present (central monitor); ability to read strips is not required
- Charting is done in MEDITECH
- 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to medical acute is rare
- Holiday rotation with staff required
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia or a Compact state currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA required)
- NIHSS certification preferred; ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy
- Minimum 2 years of oncology (specialty) experience required
- At least 1 prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement

- 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
- Caribbean blue scrubs required
- Candidates employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
- Requested time off must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment to be considered
- Holidays are rotated with permanent staff
