Description
American Traveler is seeking a NICU/Peds Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of pediatric-only experience for a 12-hour day shift position at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU teaching hospital.
Details
- Children's hospital setting with 247 licensed beds, designated as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and teaching hospital
- Respiratory care provided to all pediatric patients throughout the facility, covering neonate through pediatric age ranges
- Experience across multiple care settings including ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and general med floors
- IPPV/NIPPV ventilator equipment used
- EMR: Epic (candidates who test out of Epic may have a faster onboarding process)
- 12-hour day shifts, 0645–1915 or 1845–0715, 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- 75% of holidays required
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle
- No floating to other facilities due to the specialty nature of this unit
Requirements
- Active RRT or CRT credential required
- Current NC licensure required (license required if applicable)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience, specifically in pediatric-only unit assignments (not mixed age populations), within the past 5 years
- Experience must span resource team or multiple pediatric care settings (e.g., ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, general med floors)
- IPPV/NIPPV ventilator experience required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Former employees of any AHSE facility in a permanent position must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered

Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services to neonatal through pediatric patients across multiple units within a children's hospital
- Supported by respiratory therapy leadership within the department
- Orientation totals 3 days for ED and general floor experience, including 2 days covering computers, equipment, and facility orientation; candidates with multi-ICU experience will receive one day per ICU unit they will work
- Royal blue scrubs required
