Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a hospital in Round Rock, TX, requiring at least 1 year of general OR experience and availability for Tuesday–Friday evening shifts.
Details
- Works in an 11-room OR suite within an acute care hospital setting
- Shift schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 10:30 AM – 9:00 PM
- Shift lengths vary based on need (8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts)
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- On-call responsibilities are required
- Weekend work is possible based on unit need
- EMR system is Meditech
- Specialized equipment includes the da Vinci Xi Robot, Mako Robot, laparoscopic Stryker tower, Stealth navigation, microscopes, and an endovascular hybrid room setup
- Typical procedures include spine cases (XLIF, ALIF, ACDF, decompression, craniotomy), robotic surgery (thoracic, general, GYN, urology), ortho trauma, total joints, open and laparoscopic general surgery, and cardiovascular cases (CABG, valve surgery, TAVR, TCAR, TEVAR, EVAR, open vascular, and aortic surgery)
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment)
- Minimum 1 year of recent OR experience required
- General surgery, orthopedic, and neuro surgery experience required
- Basic general OR knowledge across more than one specialty required
- SSN (US only, no Canadian SSNs) and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Candidates should be comfortable rotating through different room types and case specialties
- Willingness to occasionally mentor new grad RNs or techs is appreciated
- Trauma experience is preferred; vascular surgery experience (e.g., fistula creation, endarterectomy) is also a plus
- Facility-provided scrubs in light blue are required
- The unit staffs 40 personnel across all shifts with a collaborative, adaptable team culture
