Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a short-term acute care hospital in Missouri, requiring at least 2 years of experience and the ability to float across multiple medical units.
Details
- Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
- Short-term acute care hospital setting
- Float pool role covering medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, cardiology, and renal units
- Float pool nurses call a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive their unit assignment; pre-assignment to a specific unit for a portion of the contract is possible and will be communicated in advance
- Patient ratios are 1:5–6 on days and weekends, and 1:6 on nights
- Every other weekend required, or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday and Sunday count as weekend)
- Holiday rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Charting via Epic; experience required for certain units
- Equipment includes lift devices (training provided), ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required; pending IL license candidates may be considered with notation
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- IV insertion and telemetry skills required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- 13-week contract minimum; longer contract extensions may be available
