Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float Labor & Delivery position at a Magnet, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring AWHONN certification and prior antepartum experience.
Details
- Float position rotating between Labor & Delivery, Mother Baby Center (MBC), and OB Special Care Unit (OBSCU) based on census needs
- L&D unit features 12 LDRs, 3 ORs, 6 OB triage beds, and 8 OB Special Care beds; Mother Baby unit has 34 postpartum rooms
- Facility is a regional referral center for high-risk obstetric care with a Baby Friendly Recognition on the Mother Baby unit
- AWHONN staffing model is utilized
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Requires working 3 weekends per 4-week schedule; weekend scheduling may include 1, 2, or all 3 days of the weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Charting system: Epic (training provided during orientation; experience preferred)
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required (compact licenses not accepted; MI does not participate in the Nurse Licensure Compact)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA preferred), NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate or Advanced)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior antepartum experience required
- Experience at a facility with 100–200 births/month required
- Level 1 Trauma setting experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- State Board of Nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn, and OB special care nursing across floating units
- Modules are completed prior to start date and vary by specialty
- Former core staff members must wait 12 months before returning; eligibility should be confirmed prior to applying
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travel candidates; no radius restriction
- RTO must be submitted at the time of profile — RTO will not be approved after the contract is signed; maximum of 5 RTO days per assignment
