Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 3 years in a Level 3 or 4 ICN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring ventilator experience and NRP certification.
Details
- Level 3 or 4 ICN (Intensive Care Nursery) setting
- Patient population includes premature infants as young as 22 weeks gestational age, all types of surgical infants, and hypoxic injury cases
- Special procedures include Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide therapy, UAC/UVC, PCL, Broviac, Trachs, GTT, and Ostomies
- Equipment used includes Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe warmers
- EMR: Epic (Pyxis, SBAR, and 4P also utilized)
- Patient ratios of 1:2–4
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
- Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
- Float requirement to Peds, PICU, and nursery for infants up to 12 months of age
- No on-call requirement
- 13-week contract with the possibility of extension beyond 13 weeks
Requirements
- Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (license pending considered)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required (pending considered)
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience in a Level 3 or 4 ICN
- Ventilator experience required
- Two manager or supervisor professional references from within the past 2 years (pending at time of submission is acceptable, but required prior to start)
Additional Information
- 24 hours of unit orientation provided
- Pre-start modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles); modules are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes and must be repeated annually
- Scrub color: navy blue or white
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday
- Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be eligible at a different rate
- Travel pairs are welcome, but each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
