Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position in Houston, TX, requiring at least 1 year of Cath Lab experience, active BLS and ACLS, and a TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Located in the Cardiac Cath Lab department of a hospital, on the 1st floor of the main building in Houston, TX
- Cath Lab consists of 2 procedure rooms staffed by RNs and Cath Lab Techs
- Day shift team structure includes 1 supervisor, 4 RNs, and 2 Cath Lab Techs
- Patient ratio is 3 team members per 1 patient procedure
- Procedures performed include left and right heart caths, pacemaker/ICD implants, Watchman, IR procedures, vascular procedures, and EP ablations
- Equipment used includes Philips and Siemens fluoroscopy systems
- EMR systems used are MERGE Hemo (Cath Lab documentation) and Meditech
- Shift hours are 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Schedule consists of one full weekend plus 2 weekdays for a total of 10 shifts per four-week period
- On-call coverage is required for night shift (no scheduled night shifts for day staff)
- Floating to the Pre/Post Cath department is required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Cardiac Cath Lab RN experience required
- Electrophysiology (EP) experience preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Hospital-provided scrubs in sky blue are required
- Universal precautions, timeout procedures, and moderate sedation guidelines are followed on the unit
- Electrophysiology experience is a plus and will be given priority consideration
- A team-player attitude and flexibility are ideal personality traits for this role
