Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring post-operative open heart care experience and advanced cardiac monitoring skills.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
• Cardiac and post-operative patient population, including post-operative open heart surgery patients
• Patients requiring cardiac monitoring, chest tube management, and pre/post-procedure care for radial and femoral access
• Floating to all units within skill level is required

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license required
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Post-operative open heart care experience required
• Critical care experience highly preferred
• Experience with chest tube and other drain management required
• Experience providing pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading and interpreting rhythm strips and recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms required
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities required
• Experience with the following procedures and equipment required: assisting with chest tube removal, assisting with removal of pericardial pacing wires, management of temporary pacers (including pericardial and transcutaneous devices), and use and troubleshooting of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems
• Current skills checklist (within the past year) pertinent to PCU required for consideration
