Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN with a minimum of 3 years of Level 3 or 4 ICN experience for a 13-week night shift contract in North Carolina.
Details
- Level 3 or 4 ICN setting within a hospital environment
- Patient population includes premature infants as young as 22 weeks, surgical infants, and hypoxic injury cases
- Special procedures include Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide, UAC/UVC, Broviac, Trachs, G-tubes, and Ostomies
- Equipment includes Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe warmers
- EMR: Epic (Pyxis also in use)
- Patient ratios: 1:2–4
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
- Float requirement to Peds, PICU, or Nursery caring for infants up to 12 months of age
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contracts; longer extensions may be available for interested candidates
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required; may be submitted with license pending
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of 3 years of NICU experience in a Level 3 or 4 ICN required
- Ventilator experience required
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12–24 months required (pending at time of submission is acceptable, but must be provided prior to start)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- 24 hours of unit orientation provided, with weekly orientation schedule
- Pre-start modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles), completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person classes; modules are also required annually
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday
- Any previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
- Travel pairs are permitted; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with differing schedules
