Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position in Nashville, TN, requiring strong critical care experience including CVICU background and advanced hemodynamic monitoring skills.
Details
- 16-bed CVICU located in the Tower building of a hospital in Nashville, TN
- Specializes in post-operative cardiac surgery care, including patients with advanced cardiac devices
- Patient ratios are 1:2, with 1:1 ratios for certain device-dependent patients
- Equipment includes Philips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, and Alaris IV pumps
- EMR/documentation system is Meditech
- Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Requires 2 weekends per month
- Holiday coverage required: 1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) and 2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day)
- Floating required as needed, typically to other ICUs but may include other floors
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN state license or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or critical care RN experience required
- Proficiency with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required
- Experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT preferred
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include providing care to immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those on ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADs
- Unit performs central line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and intubations at the bedside
- Unit is supported 24/7 by an assigned intensivist and a free-floating charge nurse
- Unit secretaries and Administrative Care Techs are available Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM; Student Nurse Externs assist on variable shifts
- The unit has received the HCA Unit of Distinction Award and the Daisy Award
- The unit is staffed by 5 full-time cardiac surgeons performing high-volume and advanced cardiac surgeries
- Scrub color requirements: black, red, or galaxy blue; scrub jackets and vests only
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
