Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Oncology) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit within an academic hospital setting
- Patient population includes oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, soft tissue malignancy cases undergoing diagnostic services and symptom management, and patients requiring comorbidity management
- Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00–19:30 days / 19:00–7:30 nights); shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
- Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Special equipment in use includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
- Epic EMR experience is required
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition, port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, IV insertion, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management, and ABG interpretation
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; no coworker references accepted
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Additional Information
- Local candidates are accepted
- Former employees of the facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation
- RTO must be requested at the time of submission and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting the position — candidates outside Ohio will need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or complete a mailed fingerprinting packet as quickly as possible upon receipt
- Paid parking options are available on campus through CampusParc, including a medical center garage permit and a budget surface lot permit with shuttle service

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
