Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience for a 13-week assignment at a hospital in Kauai, Hawaii, providing comprehensive rehabilitative care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Details
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM shift with a 12:00–1:00 PM lunch break; flexibility in work hours may occur
- Saturday availability is required — no exceptions
- Serves both inpatient and outpatient populations
- Rehabilitation Services department offering occupational, physical, and speech therapies
- OT services include ADL training, ROM and strength assessment, orthotics fabrication, sensory integration, psychosocial functioning, upper extremity motor functioning, gait training, and muscle retraining
- Additional services include group therapy, recreational programs, vocational therapy, creative arts, essential life skills training, and massage therapy
- Serves as activities consultant for the long-term care (LTC) and hospital units
- Two-day orientation: Day 1 covers HR, safety, risk and quality management, and IT; Day 2 focuses on EMR training
Requirements
- Active Hawaii OT license required — candidates should obtain this as soon as possible if not already held
- Minimum 2 years of OT experience required
- Current BLS/BCLS certification required
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Evaluate and treat patients with injuries, disabilities, or emotional challenges to enhance, maintain, or restore functional capabilities
- Develop and implement individualized written occupational therapy plans of care under physician referral
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive rehabilitative care programs
- Maintain accurate treatment records and contribute to staff education and in-service training
- May be responsible for delivering all OT services for a specific unit, center, or facility
- Coordinates discharge follow-up with community agencies as needed
- Assists in planning, organizing, and coordinating the OT program, including administrative leadership responsibilities
- Participates in performance improvement, infection control, and Joint Commission (TJC) compliance activities
- HIPAA compliance and adherence to all federal, state, and facility regulatory standards is expected
