Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least Level 2 trauma experience, charge nurse willingness, and mandatory floating within the health system.
Details
- Fast-paced Emergency Department with 48 beds, flexing up to 62 beds using hall beds as needed
- Combined Adult and Pediatric ED treating a general emergency patient population, averaging approximately 6.6 behavioral health patients per day
- Patient ratio not to exceed 1:4 for regular ED patients; hold assignments may include ratios of 4:1 for progressive holds and 5:1 for medical holds
- Skills utilized include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, and isolation precautions
- Charting via Cerner (experience required)
- Evening shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 15:00–03:30
- Floating within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- Indiana residents are not accepted for this position
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (AHA or RQI accepted); NIH Stroke Scale and TNCC preferred
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- At least Level 2 trauma center experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Must be willing to work charge nurse assignments
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited university required
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break, and in-state residents require a 180-day break
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
