Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level 1 trauma center in Massachusetts, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR experience with scrubbing and/or circulating Neuro, Ortho, and Trauma cases.
Details
- 23-suite OR department within an acute care, Level 1 trauma center averaging approximately 75 cases per day
- Common case types include trauma, ortho, neuro, cardiac, and ex-lap
- Experience with scrubbing and/or circulating is required; scrubbing ability is a bonus
- Charting is performed in Epic
- Shift lengths of 8, 10, or 12 hours are available for a total of 36–40 hours per week; specific schedule to be discussed with the manager during interview
- Travelers work 12-hour shifts on weekends in rotation with staff and may be asked to work 8-hour shifts during the week in rotation
- Weeknight call requirement is approximately 3–4 shifts per 4-week period; weekend call requirement is approximately 1 shift per 4-week period
- Call response time is 45 minutes
- No floating required
- Hospital-issued scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active Massachusetts (MA) RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Level 1 trauma center experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Experience with Neuro, Ortho, and Trauma cases required; Cardiac and ex-lap experience a plus
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- BSN not required
Additional Information
- Circulates and/or scrubs OR cases across multiple surgical specialties including Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, Cardiac, and general surgery
- Travelers are expected to take the same call responsibilities as permanent staff, including assignment to a designated call center
- Call center assignments may involve circulating cardiac or eye cases depending on center designation
- Weekend call rotation follows a structured monthly schedule; some months may require 2 weekend shifts depending on rotation
- Charge nurse is present on all shifts
- Self-scheduling is available within reason; block scheduling is not guaranteed
- A manager interview is required for this position
