Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level 1 trauma center in Massachusetts, requiring neuro, ortho, and trauma case experience with call and weekend rotation responsibilities.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with a 23-suite OR performing approximately 75 cases per day
- Level 1 trauma center with complex neuro, ortho, trauma, cardiac, and ex-lap cases
- Night shift position with flexibility across 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts totaling 36–40 hours per week
- Travelers work 12-hour shifts on weekends in rotation with staff and may be assigned 8-hour shifts during the week
- Weekend rotation required, with most staff taking 1 weekend shift per 4-week period and some rotating to 2 weekend shifts per month
- Call required 3–4 weekday evenings/nights per 4-week period, with a 45-minute call response time
- Perioperative call expectations mirror those of permanent staff; call begins at shift end for shifts ending at or before 5:30 PM
- RNs may sign up in scrub tech call spots but may be bumped by techs if coverage needs require it
- Self-scheduling available within reason; block scheduling is not guaranteed
- No floating required
- Charge nurse present on all shifts
- EMR: Epic
- Hospital-issued scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active Massachusetts (MA) RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience
- Level 1 trauma center experience required
- Experience circulating neuro, ortho, and trauma cases required; cardiac and ex-lap experience also valued
- Scrubbing experience is a plus but not required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred

- Manager interview required for this position
- First-time travelers are less preferred; travel experience is strongly preferred
