Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical (Adult) position in Hilo, Hawaii, requiring 2+ years of med/surg experience and an active Hawaii RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based medical/surgical unit serving adult patients (18 and over)
- 50-bed medical unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Floating may be required to surgical, pediatric, or transitional care units
- Day shift position scheduled 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation
- Various shift lengths and days required — flexibility is essential
- 15-week contract
- Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system in use
- Additional equipment includes wound vacs and chest tubes
Requirements
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment — candidates without one must apply upon acceptance
- Minimum 2 years of med/surg or higher-level acute care experience
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to work various shift lengths and days with a flexible schedule
Additional Information
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of assignment; this appointment takes place at the Hilo Employee Health office and is mandatory
- Plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start date to attend the Employee Health appointment on Friday morning
- Orientation is included in the first full week of the assignment
- No holiday RTO requests will be accepted
- Professional nursing attire required; no specific scrub color requirement; closed-toe shoes must be worn
