Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a 32-bed acute care facility in Grand Island, NE, requiring a minimum of 2 years of hospital Med/Surg experience and night shift availability.
Details
- 32-bed acute care facility where Med/Surg, PCU, and ICU are all housed within the same unit area
- Med/Surg unit with the ability to float to PCU if comfortable and qualified
- Patient population includes total joint replacement and abdominal surgical cases
- Wound VAC equipment used on the unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 on Med/Surg and 1:4 on PCU
- 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM–7:15 AM / 6:45 AM–7:15 PM)
- Schedule is 4x12-hour shifts per week
Requirements
- Active NE RN license or compact RN license (currently in hand) valid in Nebraska
- Current BLS certification through AHA or ARC
- Minimum 2 years of hospital Med/Surg experience required
- Experience with total joint replacement procedures required
- Experience with abdominal surgical procedures required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required for consideration: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years
Additional Information
- This is a newer facility, having been open for approximately 2 years
- Traveler orientation consists of a 4-hour general orientation, an afternoon shadowing a floor nurse, and one additional shift with floor staff before independent practice begins
- Scrub color requirement: Pewter Grey or Light Turquoise
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
