Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Neuro) night shift position in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience and an active TX or compact RN license.
Details
- Work on a 30-bed Neuro Med/Surg Telemetry unit (5C) within a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Telemetry monitoring required; no on-call responsibilities
- Unit uses Welch Allyn vital sign monitors, COWs, Hoyer lifts, PCA pumps, CareView Virtual Sitter, Telepsych, and Teleneuro equipment
- EMR: Meditech
- 4 weekend shifts required per schedule block
- Night shift team includes 1 CNC, 3 RNs, 3 LVNs, and 3 PCTs
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Neuro Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Typical procedures on this unit include Stroke NIH assessments, EEGs, gastric decompression, and wound care
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Navy scrubs required; hoop nose piercings are not permitted
- Orientation packet is provided on the start date
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
- The unit has a team-oriented culture and has received multiple ICARE awards and patient feedback recognition
