Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level 4 designated maternal center in Austin, TX, requiring high-risk maternal care experience and fetal monitoring certification.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting, 3rd floor Labor & Delivery unit (708)
• Level 4 designated maternal center — the highest level of maternal care in Texas — caring for complex patients at any gestation
• 22-bed unit (16 labor beds) with approximately 100 RN and support staff
• Patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:1 depending on acuity
• Procedures performed include vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, D&C, C-hyst, and PASD cases
• EMR systems used: CPN and Meditech
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 4 weekend shifts per schedule
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring certification, or NCCEFM, required
• NRP Advanced 9th Edition (current AAP card) required
• Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience
• Experience with high-risk maternal patients required
• Circulating OR and triage experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
• Greater than 5 years of L&D experience is preferred
• Night shift team includes 1 charge nurse, minimum 2 surgical techs, 1 unit clerk, and RNs staffed to census
• The unit manager and director are hands-on and will enter patient care when census requires
• Long-tenured unit with experienced, stable leadership
• Unit is currently undergoing renovation to update all patient rooms
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit has been recognized as America's Best Maternity Hospital 2023 (Newsweek) and holds a Leapfrog Grade A — the only hospital in Texas to receive straight A's since the program began
