Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) position specializing in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery, requiring at least 2 years of IMC/stepdown experience and night shift availability.
Details
- 16-bed IMC/stepdown unit within a hospital setting
- Specializes in cardiology patients but admits any MS or IMC-level patient
- Common patient types include pre/post-op cardiothoracic surgery (CABG, femoral bypass, thoracotomy, VATS, CEA), cath lab patients (STEMI/NSTEMI, CAD), CHF exacerbation, symptomatic/asymptomatic bradycardia, pacemaker management, dysrhythmias (A-fib/A-flutter, SVT, V-tach), and hemo/pneumothorax
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1, adjusted based on patient acuity per safe staffing matrix
- Charting performed in Epic
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including to other facilities within a 75-mile radius
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active OK RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, EKG/Telemetry, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of IMC/MS stepdown experience required, with a focus on cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery
- Experience managing a 4:1 patient ratio required
- Valid driver's license and a utility bill in the candidate's name with a matching address from within the last 3 months are required for consideration
- Two supervisory references required for consideration
- Copies of certifications required for consideration
- Candidate's permanent address must be more than 75 miles from the facility
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted — permanent address must be outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
- Former permanent staff must have been separated from this health system for at least 1 year to be eligible
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days per 13-week assignment; holiday and blackout date requests are not accepted
- No holiday time off requests will be accommodated
