Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 18 months of recent ED experience and an active AL or compact RN license.
Details
- Work setting is a 54-bed Emergency Department at a state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
- ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year across all age groups
- Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3–4 for all other patients
- Shift hours are 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM (mid shift)
- 13-week contract
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Floating to other units and hospitals is required
- EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
Requirements
- Active AL or compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
- No hits (past or current) on license record allowed
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required
- Minimum 18 months of experience will be considered; 2 years preferred, with at least 1 year recent experience in ED
- Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, and TNCC
- Red Cross certifications accepted in lieu of AHA where applicable
- SECURE on-site certification required
- Active license must be provided for consideration — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
- Current driver's license required
- Two professional references from within the last year required

- ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff providing 24/7 emergency medical services to the community
- Solid navy scrubs required
- An on-site skills test is required in addition to an online pre-test for all ED RNs
- Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules — no HealthStream modules required prior to start date
- Timekeeping system: Centricity
