Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a large academic medical center in New Mexico, requiring NRP certification and prior experience in a high-volume L&D unit.

Details

  • Level I Trauma, acute care teaching hospital with a Children's Hospital designation and 554 staffed beds
  • Labor & Delivery unit with the ability to float to antepartum and postpartum as needed
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift, 7:00–19:30 (3x12s), with 36- or 48-hour contract options available
  • On-call is required: 12 hrs over a 4-week period for 4x12 contracts; 24 hrs over a 4-week period for 3x12 contracts
  • No specific weekend requirements for traveling staff at this time, though weekend scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Charting performed in Cerner
  • Purple scrubs are provided by the facility
  • No parking fee

Requirements

  • Active NM or Compact RN license required; NM license may be pending at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — NRP must be in hand prior to start date
  • Minimum 1 year of L&D nursing experience required
  • Experience in a large, high-volume L&D unit or facility required
  • Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring (FHM) and circulating skills required
  • Experience with postpartum care (3s/4s), baby nursing, and meconium deliveries required

Additional Information

  • Procedures and clinical responsibilities include cerclage, version, cesarean section (C/S), postpartum tubal ligation (PPTL), external and internal fetal monitoring, AROM, medically assisted deliveries, C-hysterectomy, neonatal palliative care, nitrous oxide administration, massive transfusion protocol, and malignant hyperthermia management
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
  • All time off and scheduling requests should be disclosed upfront
  • A 6-month break is required for travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility, whichever comes first
  • New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks
  • COVID vaccination is optional; upload of vaccine series or signed declination is required for compliance reporting
