Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring NRP certification and large L&D unit experience.
Details
- Large, high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit within a Level I Trauma, acute care children's and teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Two contract options available: 36-hour or 48-hour per week
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- On-call is required: 12 hours over 4 weeks for 4x12 contracts; 24 hours over 4 weeks for 3x12 contracts
- Floating within scope required to antepartum and postpartum units as needed
- Weekend scheduling is not predictable and a set number of weekend days off cannot be guaranteed for traveling staff
- Procedures include cerclage, external cephalic version, C-section, postpartum tubal ligation (PPTL), external and internal fetal monitoring, AROM, medically assisted deliveries, C-hyst, neonatal palliative care, nitrous oxide, massive transfusion protocol, and malignant hyperthermia management
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Purple scrubs are provided by the facility
- No parking fee
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license required; license may be pending at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — NRP must be in hand prior to start date as scheduling classes may not be possible on short notice
- Note: RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of L&D nursing experience required
- Experience in a large Labor & Delivery unit or facility is required
- Proficiency in fetal heart monitoring (FHM) and circulating skills required
- Must have experience with 3s/4s in postpartum, baby nurse duties, and meconium deliveries
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- COVID vaccination is optional; vaccine status (series or declination) must be provided for facility reporting purposes
- A 6-month break is required for travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility, whichever comes first
- New contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks in length
