Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of adult critical care experience for a night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Charleston, SC.
Details
- Work in the Ashley River Tower, a nearly 200-bed facility featuring a Cardiovascular ICU (21 beds) and a Medical-Surgical ICU (18 beds), plus step-down, general acute care, and emergency department units
- Cardiovascular ICU patient population includes post-op cardiac, thoracic, and complex vascular surgery patients, heart and lung transplant, durable LVAD, temporary mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, IABP, Impella), and complex cardiology cases such as post-cardiac arrest, acute MI, and decompensated heart failure
- Medical-Surgical ICU population includes mixed medical and abdominal surgical patients with conditions such as ARDS, septic shock, hematologic and oncologic emergencies, GI hemorrhage, pulmonary hypertension, and perforated viscous
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage is required
- Floating may occur to the Main Hospital adult population, which uses the same policies, equipment, and charting system; no floating to sister facilities
- No on-call requirement
- Charting system: Epic
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- NBRC RRT certification required; CRT will also be considered
- SC Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) license required — license must be in hand at time of start
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of adult critical care experience required
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with 865 staffed beds
- Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
- Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
- Candidates who were previously employed (including PRN) at any MUSC facility must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on manager and unit needs
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak hurricane months are August and September
- Parking is free on nights and weekends with a one-time $20 fee for a parking pass
