Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position in Fredericksburg, VA, requiring a valid VA or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.
Details
- Located on the 2nd floor L&D unit (LDRP) of a main hospital building in Fredericksburg, VA
- Unit consists of 10 LDR rooms, 3 triage bays, and 2 OR suites, staffed by 30 RNs
- Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 2 LDR nurses, and 1 nursery nurse
- Patient ratio is 2 laboring patients per RN
- Equipment includes GE fetal monitoring, Novii Wireless monitoring, Spectrum IV pumps, and CADD epidural PCA pumps
- EMR system is Meditech
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC), NRP Advanced 9th Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics)
- Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring certification, or NCCEFM required
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Procedures performed on the unit include labor inductions, cesarean sections (C/S), and spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD)
- Intermediate fetal monitoring experience is preferred
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, team-oriented personality are a good fit for this unit
- OR scrubs are required on the unit
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- The unit has a collaborative, engaged team with a mix of new and experienced nurses
