Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- 12-hour night shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730)
- Level IV NICU in a 152-bed children's hospital — the 2nd highest-level NICU in Washington State
- 70-bed NICU unit with a typical census of around 50 patients
- Patient population includes premature infants down to 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience includes surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy)
- Private patient rooms in the NICU, with overflow to a Level II Nursery for feeders/growers
- NICU is part of a Pediatric Hospital attached to an adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery
- 36 hours per week
- Every-other-weekend rotation required, with occasional back-to-back weekends
- Rare floating to the ER in a sitter capacity
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is possible
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact RN license currently in hand or pending (must include proof of pending license and application date)
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience required
- Proficiency with respiratory support including mechanical ventilation required; trach experience highly preferred
- Skills required: G-tubes, NG/OG tube management, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, medication administration, care planning, and discharge-to-home coordination
- At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference required prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care to a high-acuity patient population in a high-volume Level IV NICU
- Surgical and HIE patient experience is preferred but not required
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- Any scrub color is acceptable
