Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level 4 Neonatal ICU position at an acute care, Level 1 Trauma facility in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and active NRP certification.
Details
- Level 4 NICU in an acute care, Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
- 71-bed NICU unit, including 17 stepdown beds and 4 private rooms
- Patient population includes premature infants and neonates with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical needs, ECMO, and therapeutic cooling
- Patient ratios are 1:2 for ICU-level patients and 1:3 for Level 2 patients
- Charge nurse on duty with no patient assignment; a high-risk RN resource is also available
- 1 PCT per shift provides aide support
- Neonatologist and midlevels are on-site 24/7; RT and NICU pharmacy support available on-site
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Telemetry monitoring uses Philips equipment; ventilators are managed by RT
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
- Every 3rd weekend required (4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks)
- Holiday coverage required for 3 of 6 major holidays
- Floating may be required to Mother/Baby or Labor & Delivery (babies only)
- 8-week contract
Requirements
- Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license, must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required; Cardiac STABLE Plus also required — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience beneficial
- Candidates must provide 2 professional references: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as determined by driver's license address, to be eligible for this position
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- RNs must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed
- On Day 1 of orientation, all RNs must pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab evaluation on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion; maintaining sterile field is critical and nurses have been released for breaking sterile field during this assessment
- Additional orientation content covers lifts, restraints, and wound care on an educational basis
- Floor-specific orientation is 2–3 days on the unit
- Navy scrubs are required
- BSN is not required for this position
