Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Clinical Decision Unit position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet Hospital, requiring at least 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) on a rotating schedule
  • 13-week contract
  • 9 Center is a short-stay clinical decision unit serving ED boarders, bedded outpatients, PACU boarders, and observation patients in a 24/7 nine-bed overflow and holding unit
  • Unit is part of a Level I Trauma Center, teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital with 820 staffed beds
  • Patient ratio is 1:5
  • Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
  • Every other weekend required (or 4 weekend shifts per month)
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Charting is done in Epic

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact/multi-state RN license required; SC license must be active prior to start date (walk-through licensure process available)
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience required
  • Epic experience required
  • SSN and driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Unit focuses on short-term treatment, observation, and stabilization of patients pending discharge or transfer to inpatient units
  • Charge nurse experience is preferred; candidates may be asked to take charge
  • Candidates with prior permanent or PRN employment at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized
  • RTO requests exceeding 7 days or including holidays are subject to facility approval and may delay the process
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is subject to manager and unit approval
  • Orientation modules are completed prior to start and average approximately 4 hours
  • Scrub colors: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
  • During hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
