Description

American Traveler is hiring an IR Technologist with 2+ years of experience for a Vascular Lab position at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center facility in the South Chicago area.

Details

  • Work in a Vascular Lab with 4 IR rooms at a 749-bed Level 1 Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
  • Adult and pediatric patient population; approximately 10% of cases are pediatric inpatients
  • 25–45 cases per day including general IR and Neuro IR procedures such as kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, G/GJ tube placement/exchange, nephrostomy tubes/nephroureteral stents, IVC filters, temporary and tunneled dialysis catheters, Y90s/TIPs, chemo/coil embolizations, port placements, and stroke cases
  • Equipment includes Inari, Penumbra, IVUS, EKOS, and Angiojet (no prior experience with these required)
  • EMR: Epic — experience required
  • 4x10 hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM with a rotating day off each week
  • Call schedule is made in 8-week increments as a modified self-schedule; 1 weekend of call every 4 weeks (Saturday 6:00 AM – Monday 6:00 AM)
  • Full week of call every 4th week with one weekday off; call covers either neuro or body cases
  • Approximately 3 ancillary call shifts per 8-week schedule to serve as a 3rd on-call team member for strokes or unstable trauma patients
  • Response time required: 30 minutes for strokes, 45 minutes for traumas
  • No floating required
  • 1 holiday of call required per contract

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of IR experience, including Neuro IR
  • BLS, ARRT, and IEMA certifications required
  • Active license required if applicable
  • Experience with general IR and Neuro IR procedures as listed in job details
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
  • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restrictions apply
  • Pediatric sedation is handled by the anesthesiologist and pediatric sedation team; peds experience is not required and training will be provided on-site
  • On-call team consists of 1 tech and 1 RN for standard cases; stroke and trauma call requires a 3-person team including an ancillary call tech or RN
  • No sleep room available for on-call shifts
  • Department support includes a charge/lead, management, transporter (Mon–Fri, including specimen transport), stock personnel, phlebotomy, RT (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and radiologists with rad PA and NP
  • Orientation consists of 1 shift; call begins in the 2nd week
  • RTO requests must be approved by the manager
  • Scrubs are provided
  • Parking is available on-site
