Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a day-shift travel contract requiring a broad surgical skillset including robotics, thoracic, and complex cases, with first-time travelers welcome to apply.

Details

• Hospital-based Operating Room setting with an average census of 70–80 patients across 24 OR suites
• Surgical specialties include General, Ortho, Robotics, GYN, Thoracic, ENT, Oral, Urology, Whipple, Plastics (free flap), and Liver resection
• DaVinci XI robotic surgical system is utilized
• Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
• Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (5x8 hours)
• Call requirement of 40–60 hours per 6-week schedule
• Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility is required

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand, or fingerprint application package submitted
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience, with all relevant skills demonstrated within the last 3 years
• Experience required in circulating and the following specialties: General, Ortho, Robotics, GYN, Thoracic, ENT, Oral, Urology, Whipple, Plastics (free flap), and Liver resection
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Indiana residents are considered local candidates; local candidates may be accepted for this Surgical Services position at a different pay package
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved
• Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break, prior to reaching the 12-month mark
