Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position at an academic medical campus, requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience and teaching hospital background.
Details
- Surgical Oncology unit within an academic medical campus setting
- 36-bed unit primarily serving patients with a known cancer diagnosis requiring surgical intervention to manage their disease process or complications
- Patient population focuses on abdominal and pelvic oncology, including Gynecologic Oncology, Colorectal, Pancreatic, Liver, and Stomach diagnoses
- Nursing staff supports patients in achieving post-op milestones for discharge
- No chemotherapy or biotherapy is administered on this unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6, with flexibility based on staffing and unit needs
- Charting via Epic EMR
- Rotating schedule with both day (7:00–19:30) and night (19:00–7:30) shifts available, 3x12-hour shifts
- Weekend shifts required per unit needs
- Floating within scope to similar units or sister facilities may be required
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Oncology skills checklist required for consideration
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have prior teaching hospital experience
- Navy scrubs required
- Chemo certification is not required for this position
- RTO is capped at 10 days for the duration of the assignment
- RTO is not permitted during the following blackout periods: June 28–July 9, September 2–12, and October 25–November 4
- Candidates living within 75 miles of the facility are considered local and subject to a different bill rate
