Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Chesapeake, VA, requiring Epic proficiency and a VA or Compact RN license in hand.
Details
- ICU setting within an acute care hospital environment
- Patient populations include neurosurgical and post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis and MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3
- Strong neuro experience required, including post-neurosurgical care, EVD, and stroke management
- Skills required: ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency management
- Epic EMR — proficiency required, no exceptions
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) or 4x12-hour option available
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Holiday coverage required within the contract period
- Floating required to Stepdown Unit; may also float to ED or MedSurg to care for ICU boarders
- 13-week assignment located in Chesapeake, VA — minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — no exceptions
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Strong neuro experience required (post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke)
- Critical care (CC) experience required; 3 years preferred, though strong candidates with less experience will be considered
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — Driver's License required for address verification
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Clean license with no background hits — candidates with any license or background issues will not be considered
- Social Security card and Driver's License required for consideration
Additional Information
- Travel experience is preferred for this position
- Candidates will provide ICU-level care across a complex, multi-diagnosis patient population including neuro, cardiac, respiratory, and sepsis cases
- This position is not open to local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not required for strong candidates
