Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of 2 years of NICU/PICU experience for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I trauma, acute care hospital in Fargo, ND.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting with a Level I trauma designation
- NICU/PICU specialty unit; SMCF campus includes a 40-bed Level IV NICU, 8-bed Peds ICU, 24-bed Peds unit, 48-bed Adult ICU, and 16-bed intermediate Adult ICU, among others
- Patient population includes neonatal (gestational ages 22 weeks and above, including micro preemies), pediatric ICU, and adult general floor patients
- Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts with every other weekend; holiday coverage required
- Weekend and straight night status may also be considered
- NICU shifts staffed with 2–4 RTs; Peds/PICU shifts staffed with 1–3 Pediatric RTs; each shift has a charge RT in both adult and children's units plus 6–14 additional RTs on the main campus
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active RRT credential via NBRC required; CRT via NBRC will be considered
- Active ND state license (NDSBRC) required; license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a respiratory therapist, specialized in NICU and/or PICU; adult general floor experience also beneficial
- Level IV NICU experience required, including high-frequency ventilation (Jet/HFJV and HFOV), nitric oxide therapy, and participation in high-risk deliveries for gestational ages 22 weeks and above
- Must demonstrate ventilator experience down to micro preemies in a Level IV NICU setting
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP
- ACLS preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two current professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the position's specialty within the last 3 years
- Active certifications required at time of consideration; no pending certifications accepted
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include respiratory therapy assessments and protocols, arterial punctures and blood gas analysis, ventilator and NIV therapy management, medication delivery, airway clearance, assistance with intubations, tracheostomy changes and decannulation, extubations, emergency response, ICU rounds, patient intrahospital transport, and high-risk deliveries
- Equipment includes Hamilton G5 & C1, V60, Airvo, 3100A & B HFOV, Bunnell HFJV, Infant Flow SiPAP, Bubble CPAP, Nitric Oxide, NeoPuff, Sentec TCM, Aerogen, ResMed AutoPAPs, Philips CoughAssist, Radiometer ABL90 Flex, EPOC POC device, Omnicell medication cabinet, Braun Syringe Pump, and home vents (Trilogy, Astral, Vivo), among others
- Orientation consists of lab orientation with RT education staff followed by preceptor shifts with unit RTs (8-hour orientation)
- If interested, candidate may have the opportunity to train at additional campuses based on need
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
- Scrubs: Steel Gray required for Peds/PICU; blue hospital-provided scrubs for NICU
- Candidates with prior employment at any Sanford Health location must disclose it; a minimum 6-month gap between end date and submission date is required for previous Sanford employees
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility may be considered but are subject to a reduced pay rate
- Strong independent and team-based work skills required in a fast-paced environment; excellent communication skills essential
