Description

American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist for an acute care hospital setting, requiring 2+ years of experience and the ability to work independently on night shifts covering both CT and general X-ray.

Details

  • Acute care hospital radiology department with 1 CT scanner, 1 X-ray room, and 1 portable X-ray unit
  • Department covers both CT and general X-ray imaging; floating between CT and general X-ray is required
  • CT studies include w/w-o contrast Head, Spine, Abdomen, Pelvis, CTA PE, Runoff, and Extremities
  • General X-ray studies include Chest, PICC line placement, Tube placement, and Trauma/FX Extremities
  • Graveyard shift averages 2–6 CT scans and 1–4 X-rays per night
  • The CT/X-ray tech is the sole staff member in the department between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM
  • Radiologist is on-site Mon, Wed, and Fri 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; all other coverage is via TRA Telerad
  • Equipment includes a Toshiba 64-Slice CT Scanner, Carestream X-ray room, and a GE Portable X-ray unit
  • EMR: Epic (experience required); PACS: McKesson
  • 3x12-hour night shifts, 5:00 PM–5:00 AM, rotating schedule (Tues–Thurs and Fri–Sat plus a floating shift)
  • Holidays are worked if they fall on a scheduled shift

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of CT Technologist experience
  • Active ARRT (CT) certification required; pending certifications are not accepted
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Active Washington State license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted — license required if applicable
  • Must be able to work independently as the sole radiology staff member during overnight hours
  • IV insertion skills required, as there is no RN in the department to perform this task
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

  • Perform CT and general X-ray imaging independently during overnight shifts
  • Must be able to start IVs when needed for contrast administration
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside firms will be considered
  • Orientation includes Epic training in Tacoma and one week of on-site training
  • Radiation badge is required; the department manager may be able to assist in obtaining one if needed
  • Scrubs of your choosing are worn; scrubs are not provided
  • Local candidates are accepted
