Description

American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience and required Siemens Force scanner proficiency for a fast-paced emergency department weekend position.

Details

  • Located in an acute care hospital emergency department setting
  • CT unit with 4 scan rooms handling a daily caseload of 150–200 scans
  • Patient population spans infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Cases include routine ED patients, Code Stroke, and trauma
  • CT procedures include abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CTAs, and multiplanar reconstruction
  • Primary equipment is the Siemens Force scanner; GE scanner also in use
  • EMR system is Epic; Visage PACS also used (experience preferred)
  • Weekend-only schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-hour day shifts from 8:45 AM to 8:15 PM (3x12)
  • No call or float requirements
  • 13-week contract with the possibility of extension beyond 13 weeks

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of CT technologist experience required
  • Experience in inpatient, ER, and adult ICU settings required
  • Experience with some trauma cases required
  • Siemens Force scanner experience is required — candidates without this experience will not be considered
  • Proficiency in CT procedures including abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CTAs, and multiplanar reconstruction
  • Current BLS and ARRT(R)(CT) certifications required; license required if applicable
  • Outpatient experience, IV starts, PACS, contrast administration, and Visage experience preferred
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12–24 months are highly preferred; pending references at time of consideration are acceptable but must be provided prior to start

Additional Information

  • This is a high-volume, very fast-paced ED CT environment; first shift typically has 4–5 techs, second shift (after 5:00 PM) has 2–3 techs, and weekends have 2 techs on duty
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Orientation is weekly; travelers may begin on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week depending on class and trainer availability — full availability with no other commitments is required during orientation week
  • Missing any portion of orientation may result in a delayed or canceled start
  • Pre-start online modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) and must also be completed annually
  • No RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; after that, up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday
  • No RTO is permitted on weekends (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday scheduled shifts)
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Former permanent, PRN, or employee pool staff of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Travel pairs are permitted provided each traveler has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
