Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with burn unit experience for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment requiring weekend availability and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Acute care hospital burn unit setting, with potential to assist in outpatient PT evaluations and treatment as time allows
- Patient population consists of burn patients with 0–100% TBSA burns, presenting with pain, surgical dressings, and needs for mobility and positioning to prevent contractures and scarring
- Patient load ranges from approximately 2–8 patients per day, with higher census typically occurring in cooler months
- Floating within inpatient is required
- Schedule is 5x8-hour day shifts (8:00–15:30), with mandatory Saturday and Sunday shifts in the burn unit plus one additional weekday shift per week
- Epic EMR is required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of physical therapy experience required
- Burn unit or inpatient acute care experience strongly recommended given the patient population
- Active Louisiana PT license required if applicable
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be able to float within inpatient settings
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months required for consideration
- Any employment gaps exceeding 30 days must be listed and explained
Additional Information
- Primary responsibilities include mobility, positioning, and therapeutic interventions to prevent contractures and scarring in burn patients, with additional outpatient PT eval support when census allows
- The facility will consider both PT and OT applicants for this role
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Open to first-time travelers
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be requested for this assignment
- Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be considered
