Description

American Traveler is hiring a Radiology Technologist for a diagnostic radiology department at a Level I Trauma and Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of acute care experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Work in a large diagnostic radiology department within a 874-licensed-bed Level I Trauma and Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital that also serves as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Department handles 350–400 patients per day across ED, ICUs, nursing units, and outpatient settings
  • Patient population includes adults and pediatrics (including neonates) across the full spectrum of radiology exams and diagnoses
  • High-acuity patient environment consistent with a teaching facility, including MD residents and fellows
  • Imaging areas include: OR (40 ORs with 12 C-arms and 2 O-arms), Main Level 4th floor (2 x-ray rooms, 3 fluoro rooms), ED (2 rooms), and 15 portables
  • Techs rotate shift-by-shift between areas including ED, OR, and Main radiology
  • Common procedures include general x-ray (head, neck, spine, extremities, abdomen, hands, feet, chest), portables at bedside, and OR cases (spinal, ortho, general surgery, neuro, and peds)
  • Equipment includes Shimadzu RadSpeed general rad room, Konica and Shimadzu portables, Philips C-arm, and GE O-arm
  • EMR: Epic (required)
  • 8-hour night shifts, Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • No call requirements
  • No weekend rotation — travelers remain on their contracted shift and schedule
  • Holidays falling on a regularly scheduled day are expected to be worked
  • No floating outside of x-ray areas and portable assignments within the facility

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care radiology experience, with at least some trauma facility experience (Level I, II, or III) required
  • ARRT-R and BLS certifications required
  • C-arm experience required; O-arm experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with general x-ray imaging and trauma patients required; comfort with OR specialties (spinal, ortho, general surgery, neuro, peds) strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Active state license required if applicable
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

  • Perform diagnostic imaging across multiple areas including ED, OR, main radiology, and bedside portables, rotating by shift as assigned
  • May be asked to precept x-ray students depending on experience level
  • Robust on-site support including a Lead Tech, 24/7 Supervisor, Manager, on-site Radiologists, Rapid Response/Code Team, and departmental transporters
  • Facility orientation includes a facility and departmental tour; up to 5 days of departmental orientation, flexible based on traveler experience
  • First-time travelers will be considered if they have trauma facility experience
  • Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
  • RTO requires manager approval
  • Black scrubs required; OR scrubs provided when assigned to the OR
  • Free parking available across multiple parking decks on site
  • A clinical interview with the manager is required as part of the hiring process
