Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Pre/Post-Op Day Surgery position in Chattanooga, TN, requiring ACLS, PALS, and experience with moderate sedation and phase 2 recovery.
Details
- Located in the Day Surgery / Pre-op Holding unit of a 472-bed hospital in Chattanooga, TN
- Cares for surgical patients in pre-op holding and phase 2 recovery (SDS)
- Unit is supported by unit secretaries and techs
- Equipment used includes cardiac monitors, ultrasound, and EKG machines
- Procedures performed on unit include nerve blocks, arterial lines, central lines, and Swan catheter placement
- Documents in Meditech EMR
- Schedule is 3x12-hour shifts; 4x10-hour shifts may also be considered
- Shift start times vary (5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, or 7:00 AM) depending on the surgery schedule
- One closing shift per week required — shift ends when the last patient leaves
- No weekend or holiday requirements
- No floating outside of Day Surgery and Pre-op Holding
Requirements
- Active RN license — TN or Compact license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in the specialty
- Experience with IV starts and moderate sedation required
- Experience preparing surgical patients for surgery and providing phase 2 recovery required
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pre-operative patient preparation, moderate sedation monitoring, and phase 2 post-operative recovery care
- Blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- 13-week contract
