Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an acute care Rehabilitation Services position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring at least 1 year of experience and Cerner EMR familiarity.
Details
- Located at a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with a Level III NICU in Montgomery, AL
- Inpatient acute care setting covering trauma, orthopedic, neuro, cardiac, post-op, ICU, and med-surg patient populations
- ED patients are treated like any other med-surg unit, with initial evaluations performed and treatment continued the following day if the patient has not yet been assigned to a room
- Caseload may consist of patients from any area within the hospital, including trauma, orthopedics, neuro, med-surg, ICU, and the ED
- Patient load of 10–12 patients per therapist, targeting 15 units per day
- EMR: Cerner/PowerChart
- 8-hour day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, 40 hours per week
- Weekend rotation approximately once per month; no on-call requirements
- May be asked to assist with Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday coverage; all other holidays are staffed as normal working days
Requirements
- Current BLS certification required
- MSPT or DPT degree required
- Minimum 1 year of acute care physical therapy experience required
- First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience
- Acute care experience required; must be adaptable, coachable, and a strong team player
- AL state license required if applicable
Additional Information
- 3-day departmental orientation provided upon start
- During the first one to two weeks, therapists are paired 1:1 with a Rehab Aide for orientation support; after that period, Rehab Aides are shared among clinical staff
- Typically 5–7 Rehab Aides scheduled per day, coordinated via a group messaging app; evaluating therapists largely work unassisted unless specific assistance is needed
- Support staff on unit includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, and Charge Nurse
- Scrub color: navy blue or dark green
- Free on-site parking available in front lot or parking decks
- Facility conducts interviews prior to offers; candidates should be prepared for a SimpliFi interview and manager approval process
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- Significant RTO blackout dates are in effect throughout the year; up to 7 days of time off may be approved outside of blackout periods
- A reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months is required for consideration
- DOB (day and month) and SSN are required for consideration
