Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position at a large academic teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience, telemetry skills, and IV start proficiency.
Details
- Float pool position covering multiple inpatient units including Med/Surg, Telemetry, Trauma, Oncology, Heart and Vascular, Neuro, Medicine, and ED Holding/Boarding
- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 1,259 staffed beds
- Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital
- Patient ratios of 1:4–6 depending on unit assignment
- Some floors operate under a primary nursing model
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting via Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract with the option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending IL license may be acceptable (note must be included)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- IV start proficiency required
- Telemetry experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Nurses are expected to float shift-to-shift across all inpatient areas; strong, independent nursing skills are essential for success in this large campus environment
- Floating does not include Women's and Infants (W/I) or Labor and Delivery (L&D)
- Navy scrubs required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Monthly parking passes are available for day/night rotation workers at nearby garages; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
