Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a 528-bed tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY, requiring charge experience and an active NY RN license in hand.

Details

• Work in a high-volume Med/Surg Telemetry unit at a 528-bed tertiary care hospital
• Complex care unit serving medicine, orthopedic overflow, and complex long-term patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 (typically 1:6); experience with this ratio is required
• Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit
• 3x12-hour shifts on a day/night rotation (7:00–19:00 / 19:00–7:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Requirements

• Active NY RN license currently in hand — no exceptions
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; valid NIHSS must be provided for consideration
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Experience with a 1:5 to 1:7 Med/Surg patient ratio required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code teams, pacemaker management (temporary and permanent), feeding tube care, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, peripheral IV care, phlebotomy, starting IVs, and heparin protocols
• Experience with orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and various oxygen delivery systems

Additional Information

• 13-week contract with possibility of extension
• First-time travelers are accepted provided they meet the required patient ratio experience
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Navy scrub bottoms required; navy or white tops
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
